IKEA Floating Shelves Bathroom Decor

August 29

IKEA FLOATING SHELVES

I’ve always wanted some IKEA Floating Shelves in the bathroom that I could style with some cute items. Although, I’m more of a practical gal most of the time. I would prefer that the items be things that I need to use and love to see. So, this weekend I installed the IKEA EKBY JÄRPEN shelves over the garden tub in my master bathroom.

The process was less complicated once I bought the right tools for the job. Ideally, you would want the brackets to screw into studs on the wall. However, because the shelves are 31 inches long and most studs are 16 inches, apart you will need drywall anchors for the job.

Then, comes the quality of the drywall anchors you can use. I just picked up the IKEA FIXA 260 accessories kit, but the drywall anchors failed me or either I used a drill bit too large to drill the pilot hole. Either way, I spent the weekend making loops to the hardware store looking for the right anchors for the job.

So, I’ve got a list of tools that I know will do the work, and you might feel comfortable putting some heavy items on the shelf. I am still in fear that maybe I didn’t install them correctly, but so far nothing is falling, and all the screws seem to be holding in place.

Here are my tips for installing the shelves from IKEA. Make sure you pick shelves that are not damaged because at IKEA sometimes people bang things around. Also, you will need a couple of stuff to make sure the shelves are level. You know if you place a jar on it doesn’t slide off onto the floor. That would be tragic, and I would never want you to experience that. I’m not saying that’s what happened to me.

The very top shelf I have a basket that I keep skin masks and a reed diffuser. All these items I picked at Home Goods.

The bottom shelves I filled with bath sponges and loafs. And I have some white towels and washcloths that I use for facials. I also have some Target bath bombs that smell divine. Didn’t even know Target sold bath bombs.

There are no words to describe my love for my Mama There are no words to describe my love for my Mama fully. She was my biggest fan, my greatest supporter, and the one who helped me navigate life through its many ups and downs. She prayed for me, encouraged me, and always believed in me, even when I doubted myself.

I owe her my life's work and every accolade I've achieved. She saw me through undergrad, guided me as I navigated Corporate America—even though she had never experienced it herself—and kept me grounded through it all.

She prayed with me in moments of joy and in times of need. She stood proudly by my side on my wedding day and cried with me through some of the most challenging moments of my life.

My mom saved my life in more ways than I can count. Her love and guidance shaped the person I am today, and her passing has forever changed me.

On November 26, 2024, Esther Gleaton went home to be with her ancestors. I find comfort in knowing she is finally at rest, free from pain, and in eternal peace.

My mother bravely faced a short but aggressive battle with Plasma Cell Leukemia, spending 72 days fighting inpatient at the Northside Hospital Cancer Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. She fought with courage, grace, and incredible strength.

In sickness and health, my father, Orbie Gleaton, was by her side daily. He saw her through the very dark days and celebrated the joyful moments with her.

His love and devotion to my mom never wavered—he never left her side. The love they shared is eternal and serves as a beautiful testament to the bond they built together.

Mama, your love will guide me forever. You are my heart, and I will carry you with me always.
