This is in celebration of love

February 3

I get super excited when I find something that I can’t stop thinking about.I typically use the word this when I describe said items or things. So this I’m about to share with you are things that I am really digging right now and can’t wait to actually get my hands on. Some are right on time as the celebration of love approaches. I’m not a big Valentines Day person myself, but if I were going to make a list of things that I wouldn’t mind having then this would be it.

KING

This trio — Anita Bias and twin sisters Amber and Paris Strother is what I’ve been longing for on my neo soul playlist. They have Black Girl Magic all up in their music. It speaks to my soul and I am loving everything about their neo soul vibe. I’m not sure how I discovered this group last year, but I’m super into their music. Finally on February 5th they will release their debut album ‘We are King‘. I must say I have already fell in love with the album. My favorite songs on the album are ‘The Story‘ and ‘The Right One‘.

Erykah & The Head Wrap Queen

My world stopped. When my best friend tagged me in a post on Facebook. At first I was like is this a editorial for some African dresses because this rug is everything. I did a quick Google image search and found the artists behind these amazing rugs. OT & O Home Interiors is your “one stop shop” for iconic African-inspired home accessories. They are on my must have “This List”. I’m going to get me at least one of these on my next Home Decor haul. I am counting my coins right now to make this happen sooner than later. The rugs are made of Indian Wool and you can check out their Instagram and see pictures of the artisans hand crafting these rugs. I just knew that they would cost around maybe $500 US dollars. Nope. They are around $200 dollars.

Baval Razor System

Now this item on my list is because this startup company is making waves in Silicon Valley. I’m some what a of nerd when it comes to beauty and technology. I don’t have a need for a razor system to take care of the few hairs on my chin, but my husband is going to get this razor system. I love the design of the bottles and the razor itself and it was designed to prevent ingrown hairs that husband gets from shaving. This is typically an issue for very coarse curly hair like my hubby. Not to mention you can now buy the entire system at what Target!

There are no words to describe my love for my Mama There are no words to describe my love for my Mama fully. She was my biggest fan, my greatest supporter, and the one who helped me navigate life through its many ups and downs. She prayed for me, encouraged me, and always believed in me, even when I doubted myself.

I owe her my life's work and every accolade I've achieved. She saw me through undergrad, guided me as I navigated Corporate America—even though she had never experienced it herself—and kept me grounded through it all.

She prayed with me in moments of joy and in times of need. She stood proudly by my side on my wedding day and cried with me through some of the most challenging moments of my life.

My mom saved my life in more ways than I can count. Her love and guidance shaped the person I am today, and her passing has forever changed me.

On November 26, 2024, Esther Gleaton went home to be with her ancestors. I find comfort in knowing she is finally at rest, free from pain, and in eternal peace.

My mother bravely faced a short but aggressive battle with Plasma Cell Leukemia, spending 72 days fighting inpatient at the Northside Hospital Cancer Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. She fought with courage, grace, and incredible strength.

In sickness and health, my father, Orbie Gleaton, was by her side daily. He saw her through the very dark days and celebrated the joyful moments with her.

His love and devotion to my mom never wavered—he never left her side. The love they shared is eternal and serves as a beautiful testament to the bond they built together.

Mama, your love will guide me forever. You are my heart, and I will carry you with me always.

Angela, Orbie, Carla, Carmelia & Amelia we will take care of Daddy. 🤍🕊️ #Multiplemyeloma #cancersucks #plasmacellleukemia

Did not begin with you (God is doing a great work)
Our mothers' mothers

Planted seeds
When we were but the faint notion of a dream
In their mind
They hope for a harvest a legacy, a great work
So make your next step forward

"Wherever you go in this world you will never be a "Wherever you go in this world you will never be alone. You carry with you the hopes and prayers of the ancestors. There will be days in this life when you feel alone, but know that the ancestors are with you. When you go for that job interview remember that you are carrying the ancestors with you. Everyone who has ever cared for and prayed for you goes with you when you are alone. Some of those people will never get to have your experiences or go in those boardrooms, but you carry them with you. You are the manifestation of an impossible dream - through middle passage, slavery, reconstruction, Jim Crow, segregation, civil rights - they believed that it was possible.
