How to make a Gods Eye

I’ve never been to a summer camp where we did arts and crafts like the Gods Eye. I was a 4-Her and I spent summers at camp running from class to class. Then there is Vacation Bible School well I don’t remember there being an class on “How to make a Gods Eye”. However, then I grew up and wanted to…

9 Things We love for Spring from Amazon

March 24

Raise your hand if you finally realized that buying a Amazon Prime membership was the best thing you could do. I keep a running list of things I need, want or have to get in my cart. I typically wait a couple of days and then just buy all the items at once. I’m amazed at the trendy and seasonal fashion items…

10 Things To Do When You Can't Sleep

This past summer I could not sleep and tried many things to fall asleep. I simply became restless that then made me stay up all night scrolling Instagram and Facebook feeds for the latest updates. I know why would I pick up my phone if I couldn’t sleep. Well it was really out of boredom and the lack of a…

5 Tips for Making Fresh Flowers Last Longer

March 9

5tipstomakefreshflowerslastlonger

These are my five tips for making fresh flowers last longer. I grabbed a couple of fresh cut flowers at the market when I do my grocery shopping. Typically, I just cut the bottoms add the fresh flower packet and call it a day. Somehow my flowers never looked so good, and the water was murky. I did some research, and…

Painted Wooden Serving Spoons

March 8

Today, I want to share with my attempt at making these gorgeous hand painted IKEA wooden spoons that Melodrama made on her blog. I mean they are lovely and wonderful all at the same time. I’ve seen many hand painted wooden spoons and like Melodrama I refuse to accept the price. I mean they are pretty and all, but I…

5 Cheap Self-care Ideas

Have you ever been so tired you couldn’t sleep or so drained that you couldn’t think straight? Well, I’ve been in this place many times and felt helpless. How could I continue to survive if I felt ugly inside and out? I tried putting makeup on and pretending everything was OK, but it wasn’t.  I didn’t have any more fuel in my…

There are no words to describe my love for my Mama There are no words to describe my love for my Mama fully. She was my biggest fan, my greatest supporter, and the one who helped me navigate life through its many ups and downs. She prayed for me, encouraged me, and always believed in me, even when I doubted myself.

I owe her my life's work and every accolade I've achieved. She saw me through undergrad, guided me as I navigated Corporate America—even though she had never experienced it herself—and kept me grounded through it all.

She prayed with me in moments of joy and in times of need. She stood proudly by my side on my wedding day and cried with me through some of the most challenging moments of my life.

My mom saved my life in more ways than I can count. Her love and guidance shaped the person I am today, and her passing has forever changed me.

On November 26, 2024, Esther Gleaton went home to be with her ancestors. I find comfort in knowing she is finally at rest, free from pain, and in eternal peace.

My mother bravely faced a short but aggressive battle with Plasma Cell Leukemia, spending 72 days fighting inpatient at the Northside Hospital Cancer Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. She fought with courage, grace, and incredible strength.

In sickness and health, my father, Orbie Gleaton, was by her side daily. He saw her through the very dark days and celebrated the joyful moments with her.

His love and devotion to my mom never wavered—he never left her side. The love they shared is eternal and serves as a beautiful testament to the bond they built together.

Mama, your love will guide me forever. You are my heart, and I will carry you with me always.

Angela, Orbie, Carla, Carmelia & Amelia we will take care of Daddy. 🤍🕊️ #Multiplemyeloma #cancersucks #plasmacellleukemia

Our mothers' mothers

"Wherever you go in this world you will never be a "Wherever you go in this world you will never be alone. You carry with you the hopes and prayers of the ancestors. There will be days in this life when you feel alone, but know that the ancestors are with you. When you go for that job interview remember that you are carrying the ancestors with you. Everyone who has ever cared for and prayed for you goes with you when you are alone. Some of those people will never get to have your experiences or go in those boardrooms, but you carry them with you. You are the manifestation of an impossible dream - through middle passage, slavery, reconstruction, Jim Crow, segregation, civil rights - they believed that it was possible.
