House Plants – 3 flowering plants

May 31

Raise your hand if you have a green thumb? No, worries nobody is actually watching you slowly raise or not put your hand up at all. I’m not that type of girl that would call you out on the plastic fake silk arrangements in every corner. Not, that it reminds me of a funeral home sitting room or anything, but it truly…

I bet you feel like your late to the party. Don’t worry; I have successfully organically grown my Instagram followers to over 1,000 by using the five principals below. I know 1,000 isn’t a huge number, so if your following is greater than 1,000 already then this is not for you. I’m not mad go ahead and click off and…

How to Create the life you want?

How to create the life you want?  Is a question that I asked myself over and over again at the beginning of this year? I didn’t have any idea, but now that I’m focused on creating a life that’s all I about me and no one else I can tell you a thing or two about it. Almost halfway through…

20 Best Thrift Store Tips - Shopping Guide

Who doesn’t love a good deal on some really cool items? Well, this is why I love a good thrift store or estate sale. I am currently in recovery from hoarding vintage cocktail glasses and furniture. It was an obsession for a while, but I have found some timeless items that I can’t envision ever parting with. I am somewhat…

The Easiest DIY Agate Coasters

I’m not sure, when I decided that I needed me some agate coasters, but I will tell you once I saw how much they cost I said never-mind honey chile. Then I went, on Pinterest because it’s my go to reference library for any DIY project. Surely, someone has recreated a version or can tell me how to make it without paying full price. This by…

Quick and Easy Homemade Pizza

My best friend is probably the best, “home cook” I know. She can make chocolate chip cookies look like a gourmet meal. She also taught me that not all good food is pretty and not all pretty food is good. And this sometimes ugly, but good quick and easy homemade pizza is totally her idea. I always call her on…

Who the fuck do you think I am?

Who the fuck do you think I am

Virtually via the interwebs, smartphones, and video calls my friends and I sat down and watched as Beyoncé slayed us with her visual album, “Lemonade.” Yes, we all wore yellow and ate lemon pepper wings, lemon pound cake and drank lemonade as we sat back and watched all the hella blackness that appeared on the TV screen. I was like…

There are no words to describe my love for my Mama There are no words to describe my love for my Mama fully. She was my biggest fan, my greatest supporter, and the one who helped me navigate life through its many ups and downs. She prayed for me, encouraged me, and always believed in me, even when I doubted myself.

I owe her my life's work and every accolade I've achieved. She saw me through undergrad, guided me as I navigated Corporate America—even though she had never experienced it herself—and kept me grounded through it all.

She prayed with me in moments of joy and in times of need. She stood proudly by my side on my wedding day and cried with me through some of the most challenging moments of my life.

My mom saved my life in more ways than I can count. Her love and guidance shaped the person I am today, and her passing has forever changed me.

On November 26, 2024, Esther Gleaton went home to be with her ancestors. I find comfort in knowing she is finally at rest, free from pain, and in eternal peace.

My mother bravely faced a short but aggressive battle with Plasma Cell Leukemia, spending 72 days fighting inpatient at the Northside Hospital Cancer Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. She fought with courage, grace, and incredible strength.

In sickness and health, my father, Orbie Gleaton, was by her side daily. He saw her through the very dark days and celebrated the joyful moments with her.

His love and devotion to my mom never wavered—he never left her side. The love they shared is eternal and serves as a beautiful testament to the bond they built together.

Mama, your love will guide me forever. You are my heart, and I will carry you with me always.

Angela, Orbie, Carla, Carmelia & Amelia we will take care of Daddy. 🤍🕊️ #Multiplemyeloma #cancersucks #plasmacellleukemia

"Wherever you go in this world you will never be a "Wherever you go in this world you will never be alone. You carry with you the hopes and prayers of the ancestors. There will be days in this life when you feel alone, but know that the ancestors are with you. When you go for that job interview remember that you are carrying the ancestors with you. Everyone who has ever cared for and prayed for you goes with you when you are alone. Some of those people will never get to have your experiences or go in those boardrooms, but you carry them with you. You are the manifestation of an impossible dream - through middle passage, slavery, reconstruction, Jim Crow, segregation, civil rights - they believed that it was possible.
