Candy Cane Christmas Tree Home Tour 2016

December 24

I tried this year to decorate every surface area that I could think of, but while it never happened. This years theme if I had one all started with the Candy Cane Christmas Tree and ribbon. I got the bright idea to refresh my living room and dining area. I’m always starting projects in the middle of decorating for Christmas.

So, therefore, many of my areas are in chaos right now, and I didn’t get a chance to hide some electrical cords or put all the beautiful garlands I found on Pinterest. My Candy Cane Christmas tree brings me so much joy in the evenings when the lights sparkle.

The large candy cane ornaments are from the Target Wonder Shop. The metallic finish captured my heart and every week I collected enough for the front of the tree. Yeah, I didn’t bother with decorating the back that no one can see. Then I found the shatterproof bulbs with orange and purple in the same container. Target knew that it would grab my heart and I would have to buy them.

The small peppermint candies I found those at Big Lots along with my new 7ft flocked Christmas Tree. I promise Big Lots has the best prices on Christmas Tress and this year had an impressive selection of Christmas decor. And my velvet ribbon it came from Micheals and after searching for some ribbon, I almost gave up. It set the theme for the tree this year. I also have one roll of silver burlap ribbon. Another thing I never got a chance to finish.

I also picked up some large silver ornaments at Micheals to fill in the gaps in between branches. Next year I plan to add more lights to my tree to make it sparkle even more.

The vintage Tree Topper I found on Ebay, and it compliments the shatterproof ornaments from Target.

Another great find this year are the bottle brush pink and yellow bottle brush trees. They didn’t make it on the tree in the bedroom, so I put some snow filler in the tray on the coffee table. It turned out perfect and complimented my ceramic yellow horse. He may never leave my coffee table because he is one of my favorite things.

And my sad burlap wreath outside never got a proper Christmas sign. I made the burlap wreath last year in hopes that as the seasons changed, I would just update the ribbon and sign. It was my way of not having to store a wreath for every occasion and still have the joy of decorating.

This year I have found new friends and explored the world of blogging with an open heart. I enjoy creating and sharing content. I look forward to another great year.

There are no words to describe my love for my Mama There are no words to describe my love for my Mama fully. She was my biggest fan, my greatest supporter, and the one who helped me navigate life through its many ups and downs. She prayed for me, encouraged me, and always believed in me, even when I doubted myself.

I owe her my life's work and every accolade I've achieved. She saw me through undergrad, guided me as I navigated Corporate America—even though she had never experienced it herself—and kept me grounded through it all.

She prayed with me in moments of joy and in times of need. She stood proudly by my side on my wedding day and cried with me through some of the most challenging moments of my life.

My mom saved my life in more ways than I can count. Her love and guidance shaped the person I am today, and her passing has forever changed me.

On November 26, 2024, Esther Gleaton went home to be with her ancestors. I find comfort in knowing she is finally at rest, free from pain, and in eternal peace.

My mother bravely faced a short but aggressive battle with Plasma Cell Leukemia, spending 72 days fighting inpatient at the Northside Hospital Cancer Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. She fought with courage, grace, and incredible strength.

In sickness and health, my father, Orbie Gleaton, was by her side daily. He saw her through the very dark days and celebrated the joyful moments with her.

His love and devotion to my mom never wavered—he never left her side. The love they shared is eternal and serves as a beautiful testament to the bond they built together.

Mama, your love will guide me forever. You are my heart, and I will carry you with me always.
