Instagram Photo Coasters

INSTAGRAM PHOTO COASTERS

Instagram is my favorite social media platform. I like connecting with others through photographs. Often times you can get a better sense of mood and feelings of the person in the photo. And don’t forget the captions also add value and can make you laugh or cry right along. In the last 6 months I have capture thousands of pictures, but only posted a very few of those. And typically  what I post is the one that spoke to me and captures the moment the best.

Why keep all the photo’s on Instagram when you can print and enjoy them for a lot longer. I always get inspired by Instagram and today I want to share with you how to make Instagram photo coasters. The process is simple and only requires patience for drying time, but the rest is easy lifting. And not to mention affordable if you use the same .82 cent tiles I got at my local home improvement store.

I was inspired for this project by the various succulents and the ones I tried to keep alive. I learned a hard lesson and right now the only succulents that I have are these photo coasters. Well, I have a few large succulents, but none of the cute small rose shaped succulents. I think they fit right in with my boho mid-century country chic vibe in my home.  I know you wonder how I mix all these styles in my home. It just works for me and I don’t care what design standards I am breaking.

I also included a few flowers from this spring because the azaleas were beautiful and in full bloom. I get to enjoy the blooms of spring for months to come and also have a functional coaster for my office, living  and dining room.

Directions

  1. Download app and select photos to print. And pick them up at local Walgreens. (Its really that simple)
  2. Clean the surface of tiles with alcohol. Let dry. This should be quick.
  3. Cover tile with a thin layer of  mod podge using sponge brush.
  4. Then place photos on tile and make sure they are centered before it dries.
  5. Let coasters dry for an hour to make sure picture doesn’t move around
  6. Now apply a thin layer of mod podge over the photo. Let dry over night.
  7. In a well ventilated area cover surface and spray a thin coast of the Krylon Crystal Clear. Let dry 2 hours between layers.
  8. Let coasters sit over night. Then apply cork backing so it will not scratch table surface.

Where will you use your coasters?

There are no words to describe my love for my Mama There are no words to describe my love for my Mama fully. She was my biggest fan, my greatest supporter, and the one who helped me navigate life through its many ups and downs. She prayed for me, encouraged me, and always believed in me, even when I doubted myself.

I owe her my life's work and every accolade I've achieved. She saw me through undergrad, guided me as I navigated Corporate America—even though she had never experienced it herself—and kept me grounded through it all.

She prayed with me in moments of joy and in times of need. She stood proudly by my side on my wedding day and cried with me through some of the most challenging moments of my life.

My mom saved my life in more ways than I can count. Her love and guidance shaped the person I am today, and her passing has forever changed me.

On November 26, 2024, Esther Gleaton went home to be with her ancestors. I find comfort in knowing she is finally at rest, free from pain, and in eternal peace.

My mother bravely faced a short but aggressive battle with Plasma Cell Leukemia, spending 72 days fighting inpatient at the Northside Hospital Cancer Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. She fought with courage, grace, and incredible strength.

In sickness and health, my father, Orbie Gleaton, was by her side daily. He saw her through the very dark days and celebrated the joyful moments with her.

His love and devotion to my mom never wavered—he never left her side. The love they shared is eternal and serves as a beautiful testament to the bond they built together.

Mama, your love will guide me forever. You are my heart, and I will carry you with me always.

There will be days in this life when you feel alone, but know that the ancestors are with you. When you go for that job interview remember that you are carrying the ancestors with you.
