My Bright & Cheerful Home Office Makeover

April 4

Welcome! If you are visiting from Whitney J Decor:  Hallway Update thanks so much for stopping by.

Carving out a space to call my home office has been on my radar for a while now. I’ve evolved from having a desk in the main living area to jumping from the formal dining room to breakfast nook. Finally, I landed on the sofa, and that is when I knew it was a mistake.  Working from the couch is when I saw my productivity take a nose dive into the space of watching TV and not staying on task.

Then I surveyed my home and decided that the “guest room” could be transformed to fit my needs better. I mean no one ever comes to visits, and then the very week I started ordering items for the makeover a guest came and stayed for over a week. Today, I will be giving you details on the office portion of the makeover. The daybed and guest side of the room is still a work in progress. I have custom bedding and items that are currently still in transit. This is real life over here at my bright and bohemian home.

Though Bellacor provided the desk for review, as always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Part 1 of Home Office / Guest Room Makeover

The Space

The guest room is about 78 sq ft and I my goal is to include an office zone and a day bed for potential guests.  I played with the layout, and I knew that I wanted a desk area, storage, and the daybed. But the challenge was to make all these things work in such a small space. It all started with measuring and measuring again and again.

Inspiration

Desk

It all started with this Brighton Hill Paige Raspberry Pink Writing Desk colored desk sent to me for review by the beautiful Bellacor team. I wanted to love my space and this color awaken something in me. It wakes me up in the mornings when I find it hard to get out of bed.

Chair

Ave Six, Lula Office Chair in Multiple Colors

Then the rose gold hardware sent me on a quest to find the perfect office chair. Initially, I looked for a raspberry pink chair, but then I saw this Cruising blue Ave Six, Lula Office Chair velvet online.

Function

Monitor, keyboard, and mouse

I know we all love the Pinterest or Instagram worthy desk with the perfect styling, but let’s be serious I have a laptop and need technology to make things happen as an influencer. My office definitely has a Macbook, keyboards and a mouse. However, I tried to find fun and pretty accessories to make my desk a place that I loved.

Also, useful hack if you have a MacBook or a PC laptop get yourself a monitor and a docking station setup. It gives you so much more space, and you don’t have to invest in a desktop or iMac if you need to be mobile and travel with your MacBook or laptop. I purchased all my desk accessories in rose gold.

Office Sounds

My monitor has built-in speakers, but the sound was not exactly what I had hoped. Instead, I found a mini Bluetooth speaker in of course rose gold that takes up so little space. Its the perfect thing to play my favorite working playlists.

Thanks for visiting! Now the fun doesn’t stop please continue on this hop by visiting the lovely Nikki D and her Spring Into Action project.

Also, remember this post is a part of a collaboration with a group of talented home decor and interior influencers. Please visit all the sites and come back and let me know your favorite things from all of them.

There are no words to describe my love for my Mama There are no words to describe my love for my Mama fully. She was my biggest fan, my greatest supporter, and the one who helped me navigate life through its many ups and downs. She prayed for me, encouraged me, and always believed in me, even when I doubted myself.

I owe her my life's work and every accolade I've achieved. She saw me through undergrad, guided me as I navigated Corporate America—even though she had never experienced it herself—and kept me grounded through it all.

She prayed with me in moments of joy and in times of need. She stood proudly by my side on my wedding day and cried with me through some of the most challenging moments of my life.

My mom saved my life in more ways than I can count. Her love and guidance shaped the person I am today, and her passing has forever changed me.

On November 26, 2024, Esther Gleaton went home to be with her ancestors. I find comfort in knowing she is finally at rest, free from pain, and in eternal peace.

My mother bravely faced a short but aggressive battle with Plasma Cell Leukemia, spending 72 days fighting inpatient at the Northside Hospital Cancer Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. She fought with courage, grace, and incredible strength.

In sickness and health, my father, Orbie Gleaton, was by her side daily. He saw her through the very dark days and celebrated the joyful moments with her.

His love and devotion to my mom never wavered—he never left her side. The love they shared is eternal and serves as a beautiful testament to the bond they built together.

Mama, your love will guide me forever. You are my heart, and I will carry you with me always.
